Saudi Arabian Pro League side Al Hilal have made a world-record £259 million bid to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The French champions have put Mbappe up for sale and left him out of their squad for the pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea having made it clear they only want to include players who are committed to the club.
Al Hilal’s record-breaking offer is not the only one PSG have received. They have been approached with a mix of offers for Mbappe, including cash and players, but Al Hilal have shown their intention after tabling a world-record fee.
However, PSG are expecting more bids for Mbappe this week from other interested clubs including Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United, Italian side Inter Milan and Spanish giants Barcelona.
PSG will listen to any offer and all proposals to sell Mbappe, and if it was left to the French champions, they would just sell him to the highest bidder. However, other clubs would struggle to ever come anywhere near to Al Hilal’s offer, let alone afford his wages which are reportedly up to the tune of £2 million per week.
The 24-year-old France captain has one year left on his contract with PSG and is unwilling to sign a new one. This has PSG believe Mbappe has already agreed to join Real Madrid for free next summer.
Now that Al Hilal have made a formal bid and PSG are more than happy to sell Mbappe this summer, Real Madrid may now be tempted to make a formal bid as well to make sure they don’t miss out on him again.
PSG are determined not to lose Mbappe for free after buying him at more than £150 million from Monaco in 2017 and investing so much in him in salary and bonuses.
Mbappe is also willing to drag his feet and sit on the sidelines next season and leave for Madrid on a free transfer next summer, unless otherwise.
