For the past three or four seasons now, it has become the order of the day for French superstar Kylian Mbappe to be linked with Spanish giants Real Madrid.
In fact last summer, rumours were that the World Cup winner had signed a pre-agreement with the Los Blancos. But the rumours didn’t materialize and Mbappe stayed at PSG.
Madrid however, have never ended their pursuit of the forward and it appears in the near future, he will don on that famous white jersey.
Mbappe’s contract at PSG expires in June 2024. Despite being linked to Liverpool and the Middle East, it is no secret that his preferred destination is Madrid.
The idea of Mbappe leaving Parc de Princes is one that doesn’t sit well with the club president. While on the program Rothen s’enflamme on RMC Sport as reported by Marca, Al Khelaifi made it clear the club’s project is centered on the 25-year-old.
“Look, I’m not hiding anything. For sure I want Mbappe to stay. For me he is the best in the world and for me the best club for Kylian is Paris,” Al Khelaifi said.
“He is the center of the project today. It’s normal to ask about him. For me he is the best in the world, I have a very good relationship with him. Not only as a player, as a person.
“He has an agreement with me, as he has said. There is no negotiation, but I think he is still young, he wants to win many trophies and hopefully with us.”
If PSG need to retain Mbappe, they need to act first as only six months are left on his contract. But from what Al Khelaifi says, it seems there are no hopes of that which only mean one thing, his leaving, which he will do a free.
