Liverpool FC have completed the signing of World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.
This was announced by the Anfield club on Thursday after the Argentine had finished putting pen to paper on a five-year contact that will run until 2028.
The 24-year old midfielder, who becomes the Kop’s first addition this window, played an integral part for Brighton as they finished sixth in the English Premier League, and qualify for the Europa League for the first time.
Last year, he was impressive for Argentina as they secured the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, starting in all but one game for the world champions.
“It feels amazing. It’s a dream come true, it’s amazing to be here and I can’t wait to get started,” Mac Allister told the Liverpool’s website.
“I wanted to be in [from] the first day of preseason, so it’s good that everything is done. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates.
“It was a fantastic year for me — World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton — but now it’s time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day.”
Liverpool will playing in the Europa League next season after having finished in fifth-place in the 2022/23 season.
At the end of the season, Liverpool announced the departures of Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, James Miller, Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino, so they need a couple of replacements to improve on their position of the log next season.
