Chelsea’s medical department cannot catch a break this season! The latest from that department is that new signing Romeo Lavia reportedly suffered an ankle injury in training.
The club is anxiously waiting for his scan results which will be released later today.
The 19-year-old joined Chelsea for £58 million from Southampton last month and is yet to make his debut. He has been building up his fitness since joining having not played much for Southampton before joining Chelsea.
Chelsea can only hope Lavia’s results after the assessment will not keep him out of action for long, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side look to get their season back on track after the international break.
Currently, several Chelsea players are nursing injuries sustained either during pre-season or in the first weeks of the 2023/24 season.
These include Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, summer signing Christopher Nkunku, club captain Reece James, and Carney Chukwuemeka, who suffered a knee injury in last month’s loss against West Ham.
Benoit Badiashile and Armando Broja have also not yet featured for Chelsea this season as they recover from their respective hamstring and knee injuries. Mykhailo Mudryk was also sidelined due to injury and only returned last weekend against Nottingham Forest.
