Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Anthony Elanga, 21, from Manchester United at a £15 million fee.
Elanga had been with Manchester United since he was 12 and made his senior debut in 2021. Between then and now, he made 55 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Elanga had been in New Jersey for Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the USA but travelled back to England to complete his move.
Elanga has signed a five-year deal with Nottingham Forest that will see him stay at the City Ground until June 2028.
Elanga, who has been used sparingly at Manchester United, said signing for Nottingham Forest is a big step and looks forward to playing for them.
“It’s a pleasure to be here. It’s a proud moment, not only for me but for my family as well. It’s a big step and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the Forest fans at the City Ground,” Elanga said after putting pen to paper.
He added, “I had interest from elsewhere, but for me, Nottingham Forest feels like the perfect place. I’ve been here with United. It’s a special place, but being here with Forest, I feel like it will be even more special. I’m ready for the challenge.”
Elanga wrote a heartwarming farewell message where he thanked everyone at Manchester United for pushing him so that he can make his come true.
“There are so many players and staff that have played a major role in helping to make those dreams become a reality and supported me into developing into the man that I am today. I will be forever grateful to each and every one of you,” Elanga said in his message published on his official social media pages.
The Swede is Nottingham Forest’s first summer signing.
