Former Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga came off the bench to score the winning goal as Nottingham Forest defeated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
His goal came just after the break following a counter-attack after Moise Caicedo and Conor Gallagher lost possession under pressure on the halfway line.
Taiwo Awoniyi picked up possession and played a quick through-ball for the youngster to pick a spot past Robert Sanchez for the game’s opener which also proved as the winner.
Before that goal, Chelsea had enjoyed 70 per cent of possession and had a couple of chances to break the deadlock
Gallagher sent his powerful left-footed shot inches wide, while Raheem Sterling was denied from scoring by a late tackle by Ola Aina. Enzo Fernandez also sent his free-kick close to the goalkeeper just before the break.
After conceding, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino made two changes to bring on new signing Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke and the duo lit things up as Chelsea searched for an equalizer.
Their best chance to get it fell to Nicholas Jackson, who stretched and shot over the crossbar from close range after initial brilliant work by Sterling to get around the back of Forest defence.
At the end of the 90 minutes, despite dominating almost 70 per cent of possession, Chelsea were unable to follow up their win last week against Luton Town with another victory as they lost to Forest 1-0.
There will be no game for Chelsea next week as the Premier League will take a pause for International break. The next Chelsea game will happen on Sunday 17 September when they travel away to Bournemouth.
