In the past few weeks, the writing has been on the wall that Antonio Conte would soon leave his role as Tottenham Hotspur manager and the only question was just when. That question was answered on Sunday evening.
The results on the pitch have not been pleasant and his falling out with players in a public outburst after the 3-all draw with Southampton further escalated tension between him, the players, and the club hierarchy. Now, following his sack, Conte has sent a farewell message to Tottenham fans.
In the message shared on his official Instagram page, Conte thanked the fans that appreciated his work during the 16 months he spent at club calling the experience when they used to sing his name in the good times “unforgettable.”
“Football is passion. I would like to deeply thank everyone at Spurs who appreciated and shared my passion and my intense way of living football as a coach.
“A special thought to the fans who always showed me support and appreciation. It’s been unforgettable to hear them singing my name. Our journey together has ended, I wish you all the best for the future.” the message reads.
Conte left Tottenham in fourth on the Premier League table with 49 points in 28 matches and out of all the other cup competitions. The Italian manager, who won the Premier League title with Chelsea oversaw 76 matches in the Tottenham dugout, won 40, drew 13, and lost 23.
