Erik Ten Hag claims Premier League leaders Arsenal have had it the easy way when it comes to injuries this season saying the Gunners have “all the time” had their squad intact.
Arsenal have for a larger part of the season been without Mohammed Elneny, and even though he returned to the first team, and featured for the Gunners in the FA Cup 3rd round game against Oxford in January 9, the Egyptian suffered another setback, a knee injury that same month that required him to undergo a surgery.
The London team also had to make do without their number one striker Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian returned to action over the weekend against Fulham, but prior to that game, he had been out with a knee injury he sustained during the World Cup in November.
Emile Smith Rowe was another player Mikel Arteta’s team missed for a long time. The 22-year-old was off for four months with a groin injury before his comeback in early January which also met a setback as he suffered a high injury against Oxford.
Thomas Partey is one of the injuries Arsenal has had to deal with. The Ghanian in fact missed Arsenal’s game against ten Hag’s team Manchester United earlier in the season due to injury.
The Gunners are currently without Eddie Nketiah who is nursing an ankle injury he picked up early this month.
They have had to deal with different injuries this term, but Ten Hag does not think so.
“I see Arsenal, they almost have all the time a squad that is totally available.” Said Ten Hag.
The Dutchman was making his thoughts known during a press conference where he revealed Alejandro Garnacho suffered an injury, and that he would be out for weeks.
Garnacho joins Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek, the longer-term absentees in the sickbay.
