Arsenal scored two injury-time goals to beat Manchester United 3-1 on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium.
The game seemed to have been headed for a 1-1 draw, but Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus both scored to give Arsenal a dramatic 3-1 victory over the Red Devils.
Marcus Rashford fired United ahead in the 27 minutes before Martin Odegaard finding the equalizer almost immediately.
Arsenal had started off the game strongly and had their first great chance to break the deadlock after a quarter of an hour when Odegaard laid a ball to Kai Havertz in the area, but the German failed to connect with the ball and it was cleared away.
After missing that chance, Arsenal were punished on the other end by Rashford, who ran onto Christian Eriksen’s release to beat off his markers and bend the ball in off the post for the game’s opener. That was United’s first shot at goal.
Just within a flash, Odegaard levelled matters for Arsenal with a sweet left-footed strike after perfectly meeting Gabriel Martinelli low cross.
After the break, United almost went ahead again but were denied by Aaron Ramsdale, who parried away both Antony Martial and Rashford’s ferocious shots.
On the hour mark, Arsenal got awarded a penalty for a foul on Havertz by Aaron Wan-Bissaka , but this was overturned after a VAR review for an obvious error.
With the introduction of Rasmus Hojlund for his debut and Alejandro Garnacho, United started looking dangerous in the final 20 minutes and had the ball into the back of the net. But this was also ruled out for an offside after a VAR review.
After referee Anthony Taylor adding eight minutes additional time, Rice beat Andre Onana at the near post in the sixth minute of those to give Arsenal the lead.
Soon afterwards, Jesus, who came off the bench for Eddie Nketiah rolled home for Arsenal’s third after an excellent pass by Fabio Viera.
With the victory, Arsenal move to 10 points garnered in their four games and will not be in action next weekend due to the international break.
For United, they lose yet again another game on the road and remain on six points in four games.
