Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was full of praise for Eddie Nketiah who bagged a hat-trick as the Gunners thumped Sheffield United 5-0 on Saturday.
After their disappointing 2-2 draw against Chelsea last weekend, the Gunners who beat Sevilla 2-1 in the Champions League in midweek made sure to return to winning ways in the Premier League, and they did so with style with Nketiah who led the line in the absence of injured Gabriel Jesus owning the day.
The 24-year-old scored his first goal of the day in the first half before adding two more in the second to register his second hat-trick for Arsenal.
His manager Arteta couldn’t hide his delight after the game, giving the forward all the credit he deserves.
“For me, he is top level,” said Arteta. “He has started [eight] out of the 10 Premier League games, so that tells you how much we and I trust him and the importance he has in the team.
“Really happy for him, an academy player, to experience a hat-trick in the Premier League. He needs to enjoy the moment, he fully deserves it, and hopefully there are many more to come.”
Nketiah went home with the match day ball, but there was another player who made his inclusion on the match day squad count. Takemiro Tomiyasu was that player. The versatile defender came off the bench in the 65th minute to score Arsenal’s fifth which was his first goal for the club.
Fabio Viera- another substitute- scored the fourth as Arteta’s boys made light work of the bottom side who after ten games, remain winless.
Arsenal returned to the second position in the league with that victory, keeping the pressure on their London rivals Tottenham, the table leaders.
