Spanish giants Barcelona have dropped out of the top 10 clubs in Europe, according to UEFA’s latest coefficient releases ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The Blaugrana now find themselves in 14th place, down five spot from the 9th place that they occupied at the start of the 2022/23 season.
Their drop is due to the club’s recent failure in the UEFA Champions League, where they have failed to progress past the group stages of the last two Champions League tournaments. Furthermore they also failed to get beyond the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League.
They also last won the UCL in 2015 and have been beyond the quarterfinals stage only once since then.
Sevilla, RB Liepzig and Borussia Dortmund have now gone above Barcelona despite the Blaugrana have finished as LA Liga Champions last season.
Having won the Champions League last season, Manchester City are now the best club according to the UEFA rankings. They are followed by Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and PSG in that order.
The UEFA Club Ranking is a ranking list drawn up by UEFA that makes it possible to compare the strengths of the various clubs.
The value of a team is calculated from the sum of the individual annual coefficients of the past 5 years or 20% of the country’s UEFA Country Rankings. Whichever is higher.
