Thanks to the November international break, we had to wait an extra week for Bundesliga’s return. Now, the German top-flight is back; it will feature all 18 teams in action across the upcoming weekend.
Kicking off on Friday night, the still unbeaten Bayern Munich travels to Koln, aiming to temporarily claim the top spot as they’re current second with 29 points.
Facing Bayern is a struggling Koln side, sitting second to last on the log and having secured just one win this season. A victory for Bayern would see them lead the table until Bayer Leverkusen plays on Saturday against Werder Bremen.
Leverkusen, holding a two-point lead over Munich, seeks to maintain their position with a win over Bremen, currently in 12th place with only one win in almost two months.
Apart from the Leverkusen game, four other matches will take place simultaneously, featuring RB Leipzig and Dortmund. Leipzig faces a trip to desperate Wolfsburg, while Dortmund hosts a challenging Monchengladbach.
Dortmund, hoping to bounce back from a poor pre-break form, faces Monchengladbach, currently ninth in the table, just six points off the European places.
Additional Saturday afternoon games include SC Freiburg hosting Darmstadt and Union Berlin battling Augsburg. Eintracht Frankfurt versus VFB Stuttgart will wrap up the Saturday fixtures, with Stuggart in third place and Frankfurt in seventh, only six points apart on the table.
Despite being seventh, Frankfurt has lost only one game so far and remains unbeaten in eight matches in all competitions. Stuggart, aiming to build on their 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund before the break, faces Frankfurt.
On Sunday, Heidenheim in 13th place hosts 14th-placed VFL Bochum, while Hoffenheim plays Mainz.
