Belgium’s new head coach Domenico Tedesco isn’t bothered by comments made by the Red Devil’s defender Jan Vertonghen.
The 37-year-old, Italian-born was named Belgium head coach earlier today, two months after Roberto Martinez who had been at the helm for six years left the role.
Upon his announcement, Jan Vertonghen, who currently plays for Anderlecht reportedly said he has no idea who the Italian-German manager is.
Tedesco in his first press conference as the Belgium coach told the media that; “It’s normal, I have been used to it since I became a coach so I have no problem with what he said.
“That some players wanted to continue with Thierry Henry is human! They knew him and got on well with him so what could be more normal? But this is not a problem for me.”
At the same press conference, Tedesco, a former Leipzig manager, told the press of his whereabouts the day the Belgium job became vacant.
“I was waiting during a dentist appointment and saw the news that Roberto Martinez was leaving his post.
“I contacted my agents to find out how to get this job. I was told it would be complicated given my lack of experience at international level, but in the end, the process took its course.”
Tedesco is an up and coming coach who has a bright future ahead of him. Added to Leipzig, he has also managed Schalke O4.
