English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion have confirmed that they have signed midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud from Borussia Dortmund.
Dahoud will join the Seagulls as a free agent on July 1, after his current contract with Dortmund expires.
He has put pen to paper on a four-year deal until June 2027
“I’m excited to have Mahmoud in my team. I wanted him when I was at Sassuolo and I’m sure he is going to be a top player for us.” Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi told the club’s website.
Dahoud has been at Dortmund since 2017 when he was signed from Borussia Moenchengladbach.
He went on to make 141 appearances for the Die Schwarzgelben and scored just five goals in those games. He has barely played for the last two seasons due to his shoulder injury.
He becomes Brighton’s third new addition this window after James Milner and Joao Pedro joined the club from Liverpool and Watford respectively.
Brighton will play in the UEFA Europa League next season after having finished in sixth place on the English Premier League table last season.
