Brighton and Hove Albion have been one of the surprise packages in the Premier League this season as they have produced several great results.
These performances have seen the club comfortably sit in the sixth position on the Premier League table with two games in hand.
Brighton have to thank their players who have stepped up whenever they are playing and these have attracted big clubs in the league. Players like Moises Caicedo who has manned Brighton’s midfield and Alexis Mac Allister on the attacking end of the club’s midfield have got Arsenal and Liverpool respectively seeking their signatures.
Caicedo was the subject of Arsenal’s transfer bid in the January transfer window but Brighton turned it down and he subsequently signed a contract extension a few weeks later, and it has been reported that Liverpool are increasingly pursuing Mac Allister.
Both players have long contracts with the Seagulls but they are willing to let them go if good offers come in.
According to Sky Sports, the offers Brighton term as “good” for the pair should be in excess of £70 million for each of their stars, submitted in a timely manner, and then discussions to let them go will proceed.
The good thing is that both teams in pursuit are not short of cash. With Arsenal qualifying for the Champions League next season, it is understood that Arteta will be heavily backed to reinforce his squad for next season, and the same is true for Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp who wants to reinforce his ageing midfield of James Milner, captain Jordan Henderson, and Fabinho, even though he hasn’t yet qualified for the Champions League.
Brighton’s talent ID has been praised by fans and pundits alike, as they have been able to recruit young, unknown but talented players from across the world on the cheap and turn them into world stars before selling them for big bucks. Benjamin White and Marc Cucurella are some of these examples.
If Caicedo and Mac Allister leave in the summer, the club is confident they can easily replace them with equally good or even better players, and they should since European football qualification for next season is within their grasp.
