Bruno Fernandes scored a dramatic winner in added time as Manchester United defeated Fulham 1-0 in an early kickoff game played at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
The United captain in added minutes sent his quality ball at the edge of the box after Fulham failed to deal with the danger.
The goal eased pressure on Erik Ten Hag who’s team had suffered two consecutive 3-0 home losses to Manchester City and Newcastle.
Fernandes might’ve scored the goal, but Ten Hag will have to thank Cameroonian custodian Andre Onana. The goalkeeper made a couple of smart saves throughout the game to ensure United never went behind.
Early on in the second half, Onana made an unconventional save to keep out Harry Wilson’s long-range effort after Alejandro Garnacho shied out of a challenge with Alex Iwobi.
And a few moments later, the Cameroon keeper beat away Joao Palhinha’s effort to the corner.
United also had chances of their own. In the opening half, they had the ball into the back of the net, but Scott McTominay’s goal got ruled out by VAR as Harry Maguire was found to be offside in the build-up.
While in the second half, they were denied by Bernard Leno who pushed away Fernandes and Facundo Pellistri’s strikes.
But he couldn’t deny the United skipper again when he applied the vital finish in added time.
The result means the Red Devils who return to winning ways move two places up in the English Premier League table as they now occupy the sixth position with 18 points.
For Fulham, they remain 14th with 12 points.
In the next games, United will take on FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League while Fulham will battle Aston Villa in the Premier League.
