Bruno Fernandes scored a stunning volley to earn Manchester United a 1-0 victory over Burney at Turf Moor to end their three-game losing streak.
The Red Devils’ captain’s goal came almost at the break when he was found by Johnny Evans in the area to hit his shot first time. His goal turned out the only goal of the game which onsequently helped his side end a run of three successive defeats in all competitions.
Despite dominating much of the proceedings, Burnley lost their fourth game of the season and now drop to the bottom of the log with just a solitary point.
Before Fernandes scored, Zeki Amdouni got two brilliant chances to put the Clarets ahead, but was unlucky. The youngster first saw his header superbly saved by Andre Onana, before hitting the post few moments later.
While Evans had a goal disallowed for United after VAR deemed Rasmus Hojlund offside.
The second half was less eventful as United just held on to their narrow lead.
Burnley’s best goalscoring opportunity of the closing half fell to substitute Sander Berge, who put his good chance over the bar following a corner with eight minutes to go.
Meanwhile United looked sloppy whenever they stole possession and tried to break upfront.
With the victory, United move to the eighth position in the league with 9 points. They will host Crystal Palace in their next game.
Burnley, who have lost all four of their Premier League games at Turf Moor this season (conceding 12 goals in the process) will be away to Newcastle United.
