Despite playing for England, Arsenal star boy Bukayo Saka has said that he feels very much a Nigerian.
The 21-year old said this while visiting one of the orphanages in Nigeria on Sunday.
In the same interview, the Arsenal forward also said he was on the verge of playing for Nigeria instead of England in 2019.
“I will tell you this. I was very close to playing for one of the youth teams in 2019. It was the wish of my father but things happen and you have to live with your decisions.
“I feel very much Nigerian than English, nothing can change that.”
Saka is currently in Lagos for a vacation after the English Premier League ended last month. He has visited several orphanages in the area to find out a way on how to assist them.
Before he left for Nigeria, the youngster extended his stay at Arsenal by signing a new long-term contract after an impressive season where he scored 15 goals and made 12 assist in all competitions.
In total since 2018, Saka has featured in 178 games for the Gunners in all competitions and scored 38 goals.
At international level, he is capped 26 times for the England’s National Football Team and has eight goals.
