The 2023/24 Bundesliga season will resume this weekend after a two-week International break.
Heading into matchday eight, only Bayern Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Borrusia Dortmund remain unbeaten in the league.
Leverkusen sit top of the log with 19 points garnered from seven games, while Bayern and Dortmund are third and fourth respectively, but each with 17 points.
Dortmund will be first in action this weekend as they host Werder Bremen on Friday night.
They will be seeking for a fifth consecutive league win after victories over Freiburg, Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim and Union Berlin, and they will also be looking at extending their 15-game unbeaten league run, which stretches back to April.
The yellow submarine face a Bremen side that went into the international break off the back of two straight losses.
Leverkusen will take to the pitch on Saturday evening as they travel to inconsistent Wolfsburg.
The Xabi Alonso coached side has dropped only two points this season as they have won six out of their seven league games.
Leverkusen face a Wolfsburg side that has blown hot and cold so far this season. The Wolves before the International break lost 3-1 to second placed VFB Stuggart.
Still on Saturday, Bayern Munich will be in action against struggling Mainz at MEWA Arena.
Apart from draws against Leverkusen and RB Leipzig, Bayern have won all their games this season, and they remain on course to lift a 12th league trophy in a row.
The Bavarians signed off for the international break with a comfortable 3-0 win over Freiburg at Alianz Arena where Kingsley Coman netted twice in the game.
They face a Mainz side that is yet to win a league game this term, and that last won a top-flight game in April which win was a shocking 3-1 defeat of none other than Bayern.
Since that triumph however, Mainz have lost nine of their last 12 league games.
Following their 2-2 draw with Borrusia Monchengladbach just before the break, Mainz sit in the relegation zone with just two points from seven games.
Other weekend fixtures include Darmstadt against Leipzig, Union Berlin against VFB Stuggart and Hoffenheim Vs Eintracht Frankfurt. Freiburg will battle VFL Bochum while Koln and Heidenheim will face Monchengladbach and Augsburg respectively.
