Sebastien Haller netted two goals for Borusia Dortmund as they defeated 10-man Augsburg 3-0 on Sunday in the Bundesliga to leapfrog Bayern Munich at the top.
The striker broke the deadlock in the 58th minute before getting his second of the evening with six minutes left on the clock to take Dortmund top.
Julian Brandt scored the other goal for Dortmund in the stoppage time.
Augsburg played much of the game with 10 men after Felix Uduokhai was dismissed in the 38th minute.
Before scoring, Dortmund had a handful of attempts on Augsburg’s goal and hit the post twice. Niklas Sule hit the post before the break, while also Emre Can also hit it after the restart.
They finally broke the deadlock in the 58th minute when Haller slotted in off the post.
Augsburg almost instantly levelled matters through Ivan Cardona, but Dormund keeper Gregor Kobel did well to stop the forward’s shot from 10 meters.
With six minutes left on the clock, Haller slot the ball into the empty net with his left foot after Koubek- the Augsburg goalkeeper already beaten by Maco Reus shot.
Before the end of the game, Brandt increased Dortmund’s advantage with a nice finish after Nico Schlotterbeck had won the ball back to set him up.
With the victory, Dortmund are now two points ahead of Bayern with one game left to play.
Bayern suffered a 3-1 home loss to RB Leipzig on Saturday to give Dortmund a chance to go up.
Dortmund will host Mainz in their last game while Bayern will travel to Cologne.
