Early Bundesliga pace setters Bayern Leverkusen and Bayern Munich, will aim to maintain their unbeaten starts to the season on Saturday when Matchday eleven unfolds.
Leverkusen lead the table standings with 28 points in 10 games, while Munich follow closely with a two-point gap in second place.
Bayern will face newly-promoted Heidenheim at Arianz Arena. Thomas Tuchel’s squad- in impressive form could briefly claim the top spot by securing their eighth victory.
They’ve dominated their last five home games, winning by an aggregate score of 24-3. A recent 2-1 Champions League victory over Galatasaray adds to their momentum.
Bayern’s Heidenheim have the joint-worst away record in the Bundesliga this season. They’ve only earned one of their 10 points away from home which came in form of a 2-2 draw at Borussia Dortmund.
This clash marks the second meeting since their thrilling 5-4 in 2018/19 DFB Pokal quarterfinal that ended in favor of Bayern with a late penalty from Robert Lewandowski.
Exactly 24 hours later, Leverkusen will host Union Berlin. Xabi Alonso’s side have only dropped points once this season ( against Bayern Munich in a 2-all draw) as they have won nine of their first 10 games.
They will be aiming to win their seventh successive game in the Bundesliga when they host relegation-placed Union Berlin.
Union Berlin currently occupy the 16th position on the log with just six points in their 10 games. They are on a 13-game winless run in all competitions and could travel to Leverkusen at the foot of the table if Mainz O5 and FC Koln, the two sides below them, win their respective games against SC Darmstadt and VFL Bochum on Saturday.
In another selected match, third-placed VfB Stuttgart takes on fourth-placed Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. Both teams, tied at 21 points after 10 games, seek to close the gap on the top two.
