Bayern Leverkusen, Bayern Munich and Borrusia Dortmund will be hoping to extend their unbeaten starts to the 2023/24 Bundesliga season this weekend when Match Day seven kicks off on various grounds.
Leverkusen sit top of the Bundesliga table with 16 points in their first six games, while Bayern and Dortmund are third and fourth respectively, each with 14 points, only separated by goal difference.
All these three clubs had midweek games in Europe! Bayern and Dortmund faced Copenhagen and AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively while Leverkusen faced Molde in the Europa League on Thursday.
Dortmund among these three sides will be the first in action on Saturday as they host out-of-form Union Berlin at Signal Iduna Park. Union Berlin also had a midweek European game against Sporting Braga.
Leverkusen will enter the fray on Sunday with a home game against Koln who are winless this season, and who have just a single point to their name.
Xabi Alonso’s side has dropped points only once this season, and this happened in their 2-2 draw against Bayern last month.
The Bavarians will then play SC Freiburg at the Alianz Arena in the second last game of Match Day seven.
Thomas Tuchel’s side will be aiming to return to winning ways in the league after drawing their last game- a 2-2 draw against RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena over the weekend.
They face a Freiburg side that lost 2-1 to West Ham in the Europa League on Thursday, and are currently eighth on the Bundesliga log with 10 points.
