Bayer Leverkusen reclaimed the top spot in the Germany Bundesliga after beating Mainz O5 3-0 on Saturday.
An own goal from Van den Berge and goals from Alejandro Grimaldo and Jonas Hoffman helped Xabi Alonso’s side return to the top of the table with to 16 points.
They now sit a point above second-placed VfB Stuttgart who beat Cologne 2-0 courtesy of Deniz Undav brace.
In third position is Bayern Munich who rallied from two goals down to draw 2-all against RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena.
Youngsters Luis Openda and Castello Lukeba scored for Leipzig first, but Harry Kane and Leroy Sane netted in the second half for Bayern to help Bayern earn a point.
Dortmund, who sit fourth on the table defeated Hoffenheim 3-1 away from home with Niko Füllkrug, Marco Reus and Julian Ryerson on target for die Schwarzgelben.
Meanwhile, Union Berlin lost 1-0 to league debutants Heidenheim for their fourth loss of the season.
The Germany Bundesliga will return on Friday with Borrusia Monchengladbach taking on Mainz O5 to open up matchday seven.
