There will be a Milan derby in the UEFA Champions League semi-final after Inter Milan drew 3-3 with Benfica on Wednesday in Milan.
The result meant Inter advance to the last four 5-3 on aggregate after winning the first leg of the quarterfinal in Portugal last week.
To the match on Wednesday, Nicolo Barella gave Inter the lead earlier on in the game before Fredrick Aursnes equalised later on in the opening half to tie the scores and give Benfica some hope.
Twenty minutes into the second half, Lautaro Martinez restored Inter’s lead before Joaquin Correa extended it few minutes later.
At that moment Inter was leading 5-1 on aggregate, but Benfica scored two late goals through Antonio Silva and Petar Musa to level the game 3-3
However, levelling the game 3-3 wasn’t enough to stop Inter from advancing to the next round as they won the two-legged tie 5-3.
This is Inter’s first semifinal since 2010 when they won the competition under Jose Mourinho.
AC Milan, a team that Inter will face in the last four defeated Napoli ( another Italian side) 2-1 on aggregate on Tuesday.
Man City versus Real Madrid is the other semi-final match-up. The Citizens defeated Bayern 4-1 on aggregate whole Real Madrid eliminated Chelsea after a 4-0 score line over two legs.
