Chelsea have won the inaugural Premier League Summer Series after defeating their west London rivals Fulham in USA.
Thiago Silva and Christopher Nkunku scored the two goals for Chelsea who were impressive, mostly in the first-half.
They were threatening from the off and almost went ahead in the 15th minute, but Ben Chilwell saw his effort parried away by Bernd Leno.
A few minutes later though, the Blues went ahead after Silva met Ben Chilwell’s in-swinging corner to head it past Leno.
In the 40th minute, Nkunku doubled Chelsea’s lead with a tap-in from close range after Carney Chukwuemeka’s fierce shot was kept out and parried into the Frenchman’s path by Leno.
Before Nkunku’s goal though, the Mauricio Pochettino’s side had a couple of chances to double their advantage, but got denied by Leno.
The German first denied Chilwell’s ferocious shot before doing the same to Sterling.
There was nothing much to report in the second half as the tempo of the game was affected by the numerous changes made by both sides.
2-0 it ended at the end of the 90 and it meant Chelsea finish the Premier League Summer Series with two wins and a draw – the most points to win the six-team competition.
Nkunku and Nicholas Jackson have so far been the most impressive offensive players of this Chelsea side as each of them has three goals in four games.
The Blue’s next and final pre-season fixture before they return home will be against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in Chicago.
