Chelsea have announced the signing of Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 25-year old goalkeeper, who joins the Blues in £25m deal has put pen to paper on a seven-year contract till 2030. He becomes Chelsea’s seventh signing of the summer.
After signing his contract, Sanchez said;
“Choosing Chelsea is the best choice I could have made because the opportunity they have presented in front of me is amazing to develop more as a goalkeeper, to keep learning, and to compete for the spot, and show everyone how good I can be.
“I like the shiny new badge [on the Chelsea shirt], I think it’s really cool. Different colours depending on the angle you look at it from. I really like it.
“Stamford Bridge has the history that it has, the legends it has created, I just want to be part of that.”
Sanchez will compete with Kepa Arrizabalaga for a place in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting lineup this coming season after Edouard Mendy was sold to Al Ahli in June.
Last season at Brighton, Sanchez struggled for game time as he lost his starting position to long-standing back-up goalkeeper Jason Steele.
Chelsea are currently preparing for their 2023/24 English Premier League opener against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge next weekend.
