Chelsea have ended their USA pre-season tour with a 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund in Chicago.
Youngster Mason Burstow scored a late goal to help Chelsea secure that draw and consequently end their pre-season unbeaten.
Chelsea, who had a strong starting line-up were the dominant side during the opening 45 minutes on the pitch.
They created several chances to score, but unluckily failed. The first fell to Nicholas Jackson, but the Senegalese was superbly denied by Dortmund goalkeeper Alexander Meyer.
The next fell to Levi Colwill who failed to find the back of the net from close range at the back-post after a nice flick by Thiago Silva following Ben Chilwell’s in-swinging corner.
Before the interval, Jackson got another chance to put the Blues’ ahead when he ran onto a long Silva pass to round off Meyer just outside the area, but the Chelsea striker once again failed to put the ball in the net.
In what was Dortmund’s first effort at Chelsea’s goal, they got a goal through Marius Wolf, who made a run into the box to smash home past Kepa from close range and give his side the lead.
Shortly after, Wolf almost got a second for his side but was denied by Kepa, who pushed the ball away for a corner.
With the game heading to a 1-0 victory for the Germany side, Burstow came off the bench for Jackson to exquisitely head in and ensure the game ended tied at 1-all.
With the draw, Chelsea end their summer tour unbeaten having won three and draw the other two of their five games.
They will now return to England to prepare for their English Premier League opener against Liverpool on August 13th.
