Chelsea welcome relegation threatened Everton to the Stamford Bridge in the English Premier League on Saturday hoping to make it four straight wins across all competitions .
The Blues who registered a 3-1 victory over Leicester last weekend had not scored more than two goals in a single league game since their 3-0 win over Wolves on 8th October.
However, strikes from Ben Chilwell. Kai Havertz and Matteo Kovacic ensured that the Stamford Bridge outfit got the vital three points to get Graham Potter off the hook. They are placed in a distant 10th position and could be at risk of losing out on qualifying for the the Champions League next if they don’t continue with their new found form.
The former Brighton manager’s revamped side comes into this game in a bouyant mood having booked a Champions League quarter final berth that pitted them against the reigning European champions Real Madrid following their 2-1 aggregate win over Dortmund in the round of 16.
When the two sides last met in the opening game of the season, the Bkues came out victorious edging the Toffees 1-0 courtesy of Jorginho’s penalty. The Italian has since signed for Arsenal
Chelsea welcome back some key squad members from injury which is a huge boost though they may lack the sharpness to make an immediate impact, they provide depth in the team squad .
N’Golo Kante, Reece James,Been Chilwell, Raheem Sterling and Wesley Fofana are among the returnees available for selection which may give more fluidity to their game.
Speaking at his press conference, Graham Potter gave an update about N’Golo Kante. “It’s great for us he’s back. We need to be mindful of the fact he’s had a long injury and we need to take the next steps to get him up to speed in the Premier League which is what we’ll do.”
Meanwhile Sean Dyche who is well known for his giant killer approach will not make it easy for the Blues. Fresh from last weekend’s 1-0 win against Brentford courtesy of Dwight James McNeil’s first minute strike, the Merseyside club moved out of the relegation zone. Dych will hope his side produces the same display that saw them defeat Arsenal a few weeks ago.
