Chelsea have completed the signing of Djordjie Petrovic from MLS side New England Revolution.
The 23-year joins the Blues as Kepa Arrizabalaga’s replacement and signs a seven-year employment contract with an option to extend for further year.
“I’m so happy to be at Chelsea and I’m really excited to get started at this club.” said Petrovic in his first words as a Blue.
“It’s a big step for me and it’s always been a dream of mine to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the world. Today I have achieved that goal and I’m so happy.
“Playing in the Premier League is something I’m really looking forward to doing and I hope to learn many things here at Chelsea. I can’t wait to meet everyone and play at Stamford Bridge.”
Petrovic, who has been capped twice by Serbia started his career in Serbia at Rudar Kostolac before joining Cukaricki in 2014.
He remained at Cukaricki until April 2022 when he was captured by New England Revolution.
In his first year at the USA’s, Petrovic got nominated for the MLS Newcomer of the Year Award and the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Award after an impressive season.
He leaves New England Revolution after having featured in 22 games this season and was featured for the MLS All-Stars against Arsenal in July.
Petrovic now becomes Chelsea latest addition this window after Moise Caicedo, Deivid Washington, Romeo Lavia,Axel Disasi, Lesley Ogochukwu, Angelo, Christopher Nkunku, Nicholas Jackson,Diego Moreira, Roberto Sanchez , Malo Gusto and Andrey Santos.
