Lazio striker Ciro Immobile has been involved in a car accident in Rome.
This was confirmed by his club on Sunday afternoon in a statement released on their website.
The Italian striker’s car collided with a tram and fractured his right ribs and back.
“Earlier today, following a car accident, footballer Ciro Immobile suffered a spinal distortion injury and a compound fracture of the right XI rib,” Lazio said in a statement.
“The condition is currently good. The footballer remains under observation in the emergency medicine department… of the Agostino Gemelli IRCCS University Polyclinic in Rome.”
Immobile, along with his two daughters he was travelling with in the car were all taken to hospital for check.
The 33-year old scored for Lazio during their 3-0 Seria A victory over Speiza on Friday.
Lazio currently sit second on the log behind Napoli and will play Torino in their next game.
