Cole Palmer, a young Englishman, believes he can make an impact at his new club, Chelsea.
The 21-year old joined the Blues a day before deadline day for a shock £42.5 million fee from Manchester City.
He made his debut last week when he came off the bench to play in midfield as Chelsea unfortunately lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest at home.
“Chelsea explained the project, I liked the project. I feel like I can have an impact. I’ve only been there for two days: I trained the Friday and played the Saturday so I don’t know what it’s like yet. I’ll get more of a feel for it.” Palmer told Daily Mail on why he made a switch to Chelsea.
Despite being only 21 years, Palmer left City after having made 41 appearances in all competitions, although only three were Premier League starts
One of the reasons he ditched City for the Blues was to get more opportunities else where and to have more of an impact on pitch.
“I’m not saying I shied away from the competition (for places at City) because I’ve never done that. I’d been there (around the first team) for a few years and wanted more of an opportunity to play – in my position and to have more of an impact.”
Palmer will likely play the number 10 role at Chelsea, which is a position he enjoys playing in.
“I do like playing there,” Palmer said. “There is a lot of extra responsibility and I need to work on parts of my game where I need to improve so I can go to the next level. I’ve not thought about the price. I just want to go enjoy football.”
