England secured their Euro 2024 qualification after coming from behind to defeat Italy 3-1 at the Wembley Stadium on Tuesday.
Jude Bellingham was particularly impressive in this game as he led the English comeback.
He won the penalty for England before setting up Marcus Rashford to put England ahead.
England who came into this game needing just a point to qualify fell behind in the 15th minute courtesy of Gianluca Scamacca’s goal.
But after Bellingham was fouled in the area by Giovanni di Lorenzo, Harry Kane scored from the spot to put England level before the break, and for his 60th goal for his country.
After the break, following Bellingham’s long surging run, Rashford put England ahead with a ferocious clinical finish past a helpless Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Kane then made sure of England’s victory 13 minutes from time after he showed strength, guile and pace to outfox two Italy defenders before coolly beating Donnarumma for his second and his side’s third of the game.
This result sees the Three Lions maintain top spot in the Group C with 16 points, three ahead of Ukraine who have played one game more. Italy are third on 10 points.
Having secured qualification, England will sign off their campaign in November with games against Malta and North Macedonia.
Despite the defeat, Italy has qualification destiny in their hands as they still have two more games to play in November that’s against North Macedonia and Ukraine ( who are just three points above the Azzurri having played a game more). They will secure their Euro 2024 slot if they win both those games.
