According to Sky Sports News chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag has lost his dressing room as players are questioning his playing style and training techniques.
Man United have not been in a good place since the start of the season. The Red Devils have endured spells of woeful displays and results both in the domestic league and in Europe.
After their loss to Manchester City at the end of October, United seemed to have regained stability in the league with three successive wins against Fulham, Luton Town and Everton, but their fall to Newcastle last weekend seems to suggest otherwise, and the players seem to have had enough of it.
“My information is that some of the players are confused with what is happening. He has lost elements of the dressing room. One source tells me that he’s lost about 50 per cent of the dressing room,” Solhekol revealed this.
Solhekol went ahead to reveal that a section of United players feel they are running too much during training, and they have no idea why their manager subjects them to this.
“Quite a few players are unhappy with the style of play, they also feel that they’re training too hard and that they’re running too much during training. I was told that the players don’t know what they’re running for. I’ve also been told that a few of the players believe that he is too set in his ways and he’s too robotic.”
The loss to Newcastle was United’s 10th in all competitions. It is one that left the the side seventh in the league, and added to their slump against Copenhagen in the Champions League, one that reminded the Old Trafford faithful of their misery.
Having already exited one competition- the Carabao Cup, Ten Hag’s team is also on the verge of exiting the Champions League. They currently sit bottom of Group A, needing a miracle to progress to the next round.
Ten Hag will not however, be bothered about European affairs as per now as the Champions League returns next week. United’s immediate concern is Chelsea who they face on Wednesday at Old Trafford.
