Erik Ten Hag was delighted with the way Manchester United bounced back to record a 2-1 win over Chelsea on Wednesday.
Scott McTominay scored both goals for United who ended a two-game winless streak to secure their first victory against a top-10 side in the Premier League this season.
After demanding a response from the Reds prior to kick-off, the Dutchman was pleased with the Reds’ display at Old Trafford against the Blues.
“I can always have complaints but we are pleased with the result and the performance,” Ten Hag said in his post match conference.
“We deserved this. We wanted to send this message to crowd but this is also our style. In the first 30 minutes we did it perfectly on the pitch.
“It was unnecessary to concede that goal. We switched off. We have steps to make. We are going in the right direction. This team will be good and this project will be good.”
While asked about the match-winner McTominay, Ten Hag said he executed his task very well of stopping Chelsea with Antony.
“He did great. He had an important role to play. He is a very good player. He stopped Chelsea with Antony. In possession he was very dynamic. He scored two and could have had more.”
This victory means that United have not lost to Chelsea in 11 consecutive games at Old Trafford.
The victory also pushes United to sixth place on the log on 27 points, three below their neighbors Manchester City who sit fourth on the log.
In the next games in the busy festive period, they will play Bournemouth, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, West Ham, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.
