Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag conceded his side was far from their best during the side’s 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday at Old Trafford.
After comfortably beating Palace 3-0, five days ago in the Carabao Cup, the Red Devils suffered a fourth defeat in the Premier League this season courtesy of Joachim Andersen’s superb strike in the first half.
The Eagles produced a spirited performance away from home, and after the game, Ten Hag admitted poor decisions from his side cost them the match.
“We have to blame ourselves. It’s quite simple. We conceded only three chances over the whole game – all three from set-plays. Then I think we got in good positions and then made poor decisions.
“We got into good positions and we had free players. We didn’t have an impact. The quality was just not good enough in that part of the game. The final part of the game we didn’t play our best game.
“I can’t say the players didn’t run. But the final part we didn’t do well. You have to show more willingness to score that goal. It’s not a matter of luck, you can’t explain it like this.”
The fourth defeat in seven games in the league means the Red Devils are now 10th on the log with just 9 points.
Ten Hag’s have now lost more Premier League games at Old Trafford this season than they did in the entirety of last term.
Ten Hag will now hope for a better performance when his side takes on Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday at Old Trafford.
