Real Betis host Manchester United in the Europa League 2nd leg round of 16 at the Benito Villamarin Stadium on Thursday hoping to overturn a 4-1 first leg deficit.
Manuel Pellegrini’s team face an uphill task of overturning that deficit and they go into the game struggling with form as they are without a win in their last three games. .
They will hope to emulate their fellow Spanish team Valencia who recovered from a 3-0 first leg loss to Basel in the 2013/14 season to advance to the quarterfinals of this same competition with a 5-3 win on aggregate after extra time.
They will however, know that no team has achieved such a feat, recovering from a three goal deficit to progress from a knockout tie in Europa.
Ten Hag’s side meanwhile come into this game with a three goal cushion to their advantage but will be wary of their away form that has seen them win only two games of their last six.
The Old Trafford outfit is however, unbeaten in their last four trips to Spain and they only need to avoid defeat of more than two goals to advance to the quarter finals. They have never failed to go past this stage when they won the first leg.
