Youngster Fabio Carvalho will spend the 2023-24 season on loan at RB Leipzig, English Premier League side Liverpool FC have announced.
Since making his £7.5 million move to Liverpool last summer, the 20-year has struggled for game time, playing for only 638 minutes.
He joins Leipzig who have been known for nurturing and promoting young talent over the past few seasons.
Before Liverpool and Leipzig agreed to a loan move, the German club had made attempts to sign Carvalho on a permanent deal but the Reds were resistant to agree.
Carvalho will now work under manager Marco Rose, who once described his playing style as “emotionality, hunger and being active”.
The 20-year old will also play in the UEFA Champions League next season. His parents club Liverpool will play in the Europa League.
“My goal is to play as much as possible, in the league, the cup and especially in the Champions League,” Carvalho told Leipzig’s official website.
“RB Leipzig have a reputation for giving young players these kinds of opportunities, which is why this is the perfect club for me to continue my development at.”
Before Carvalho moved to Liverpool, he had played for Fulham for two seasons and scored 11 goals.
