Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has banned Cristiano Ronaldo’s side Al Nassr from registering any new players.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Al Nassr, who recently signed Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic have been handed a registration ban after failing to pay part of Nigerian international Ahmed Musa’s deal with the club.
The Super Eagles star joined the club in a €16.50 million deal from Leicester City after impressing at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
It is reported that while the Saudi Pro League giants paid the transfer fee to Leicester, they are yet to settle the add-ons costs despite the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling that they must pay the English outfit the €460,000 ( performance-related add-ons included in the contract.
Jacobs also indicates that the ban will be lifted in a matter of weeks if Al Nassr quickly makes the payment, which the club has already said it will settle.
This matter occurred before the big-money takeover by the world’s richest football club owners, the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and sources close to the consortium have stressed that the structure will ensure that such infringements will not happen again.
Similar cases are not uncommon in the Saudi top-flight, as FIFPRO, the worldwide representative organisation for professional footballers, warned players about the league’s issues in relation to contract disputes last month.
Al Nassr have only added Brozovic as their big-name signing so far in this window, while a move for Hakim Ziyech fell apart after the club reportedly found problems with the player’s knees and hips during his medical.
