Big money spenders Chelsea were made to settle for a point at the Stamford Bridge after a frustrating 0-0 draw against Fulham on Friday.
Following their barren stalemate against Liverpool before the FA Cup break, Chelsea were trying to get back to winning ways, and while some of their January transfer signings impressed, Graham Potter’s men were unable to break their West London neighbors.
£106.8m signing Enzo Fernandez especially impressed! On his debut, the Argentine showed why Chelsea broke the British transfer record to lure him away from Benfica. The World Cup winner had the most tackles in the first half and almost had a screamer for a goal in the latter stages of the game.
David Datro Fofana and Noni Madueke had their moments too, making lively the Chelsea attack, but none was able to see the back of the net, and in the end, Chelsea had to pocket just a point.
The result meant Chelsea who spent in excess of £300m in the winter window have scored just seven goals in their last 12 matches. While they added a point and moved a place up to ninth, Chelsea remain placed far away from the top four with Manchester United, the current fourth placed team in the league nine points ahead.
Fulham who beat Chelsea last month at the Craven Cottage were trying to do a league double over their neighbors for the first time in their history, but while that wasn’t achieved, Marco Silva’s men will be content with a point as it takes them up to sixth.
