Former Brazilian striker and World Cup winner, Romario is definitely not a fan of Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti if an interview he had with Panorama Esportivo is anything to go by.
After Tite, who had spent six years as the Brazil national team head coach stepping down in December following the Selecao’s underwhelming performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, talks of Ancelotti taking over as the Brazilian coach started emerging.
Since Tite’s exit, Brazil who only managed a quarter final finish at the World Cup have been without a permanent coach, but Fernando Diniz was appointed on an interim basis.
The five-time World Cup champions are however, still linked with the Italian gaffer. Asked about his thoughts on Ancelotti (whose contract at Madrid expires at the end of the season) taking over, Romario, while on Panorama Esportivo via TMW said: “Fuck him. I want Diniz until the end.”
The former footballer turned politician is definitely content with Diniz. He heaped praise on the 49-year-old saying;
“Diniz is the best coach we have. With the national team he doesn’t have the same material that he can dedicate to a club, namely training.
“He does what he can, in the last two matches he has drawn and lost but no one always wins. And in my opinion the Brazilian national team is in excellent hands with him.”
Diniz is nicknamed the ‘Brazilian Guardiola’ owing to his style of play (tiki-taka) however, under him, Brazil are yet to hit the ground running.
The Selecao have won just two games, with their most recent encounter being a 2-0 loss to Uruguay in a World Cup Qualifier on 18th October.
