Bayern Munich against Borrusia Monchengladbach is always a special fixture in the Bundesliga calendar! These two clubs shared the league title over nine consecutive seasons between 1968 and 1977.

Since then, Monchengladbach have not tasted league glory, but has been a side that found getting a result from Bayern so easy.

They are unbeaten in last five games in all competitions against the Bavarians. Last season, they drew 1-all with Bayern in Munich before winning 3-2 at home.

But Gladbach head into this game in the poorest of form as they are winless in their opening two games. They fought back to draw 4-4 at FC Augsburg on the opening day before losing 3-0 at home to Bayern Leverkusen last week.

For Bayern, they head into this game in sublime form as they have won all their opening two games scoring seven goals. They beat Werder Bremen 4-0 on the opening day before overcoming Augsburg 3-1 last weekend.

Of the seven goals, former Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has got three of them.

The Bavarians are currently one of the five teams to take maximum points so far. The other is Union Berlin, who are currently leading the way on goal difference after back to back 4-1 wins over FSV Mainz O5 and promoted SV Darmstadt 98.

Union next play last season’s DFB Cup winners RB Liepzig who have one victory and one loss this season. Berlin also has the leading scorer in Kevin Behrens who has four goals.

On Friday evening though, Borrusia Dortmund will meet newcomers FC Heidenheim 1846. Dortmund are unbeaten this season with four points in their two games after Donyell Malen netted for the second game running last week to help Dortmund draw with local rivals VFL Bochum.

They face Heidenheim this week who are one of the four teams still to get off the mark. Last week they led 2-0 at home to TSG Hoffenheim 1899, only to lose 3-2.

In the other games, Bayern Leverkusen will host Darmstadt on Saturday, when two other teams with six points from six are on the road. Wolfsburg visit Hoffenheim while SC Freiburg are away to midtable Stuttgart.

Augsburg and Bochum – with a point apiece so far – will face each other. SV Werder Bremen – bottom of the table and without a point or a goal are at home to Mainz.
