Having not won any major trophies at Tottenham, Harry Kane wants to make it different at his new club, Bayern Munich
The striker wants to fight for titles both in Germany and also in Europe while playing at the highest level of football
“I’ve always wanted to push my limits and improve, and see how far that can take me,” said Kane to the German media as quoted by Bundesliga.com
“Ultimately, I wanted to be playing at the highest level, to be playing in the Champions League, fighting for titles every year. Coming to Bayern, one of the biggest clubs in the world, gives me that opportunity.”
But just a few hours after completing his move, Kane failed to help the Bavarian win the DFB Supercup on Saturday after a 3-0 loss to RB Liepzig. Having started on bench, he was introduced on in the 63rd minute but couldn’t stop the horrible loss.
“It’s been an incredible experience so far,” explained Kane. “The recepetion at the game last night was magical. Throughout the game I could hear them singing.
“I wanted to come here and win last night but that wasn’t the case. It’s no time to panic, it’s a long season ahead. Thank you to the fans, hopefully I can give them some reasons to cheer over the season.”
Bayern have won the Bundesliga for the last 11 consecutive years and always compete in the UEFA Champions League until the latter stages.
Despite being regarded as the one of the best strikers in the world currently, Kane’s best achievement as Spurs was helping them reach the UEFA Champions League final in the 2018/19 season where they lost to Liverpool 2-0.
The 30-year old is also trophy less with the English National Team since he made his international debut at Wembley against Lithuania in 2015. Their best achievement since that time has been finishing runners-up to Italy in the UEFA European Championship in 2020
This weekend, the 2023/24 Bundesliga season will start and Bayern will begin the defence of their title at Werder Bremen on Friday, 18 August.
