Jurgen Klopp has expressed his admiration for in-form Marcus Rashford ahead of Liverpool’s encounter with arch-rivals Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.
Rashford is in scintillating form currently. The 25-year-old who has been nominated for Player of the Month of February has scored 17 goals in 19 appearances in all competitions since his return from the World Cup.
With his tally this season reading 25 goals, Rashford is on course to become the first United player to break the 30-goal barrier since Robin Van Persie in the 2012/13 campaign.
Klopp, despite admitting it is unimaginable to be happy about the progress of their rivals was all praise for the England international.
“It’s pretty much impossible to be happy about something at Man United as a Liverpool manager.
“But I’m really happy for Rashford because he had a very difficult year last year where he was not performing on the level he is able to perform. I knew this would change again, but sometimes in life, there is not enough time to change it.
“But now he is playing incredibly. His speed, technique, the mix-up of everything, how calm he is in front of goal, he scores the simple ones, he scores worldies, he puts his head in, all those kinds of things.
“We’ve played before against world-class offensive players and if you try to do that in a one vs one situation then you will always be on the wrong end of it – we have to do that collectively.”
Man United under Erik Ten Hag seem to be headed back to their glory days. The Red Devils are still on course of winning a quadruple this season.
Having already secured the Carabao Cup, Ten Hag and his team now have their sights set on the Premier League, the Europa League and the FA Cup, and things are looking pretty good for them.
They are in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup, the last 16 of the Europa League and are third in the EPL standings with 49 points, just 11 behind table leaders Arsenal who have played a game more.
Klopp whose Liverpool side is trying to regain form will hope his boys put a halt to United’s surge when the two face-off over the weekend.
