Holland midfielder Frenkie De Jong has rang a bell to his English admirers Manchester United that he is loving his time at Barcelona.
The midfielder was a subject of a transfer saga in the summer! Barcelona who were keen to sell the 25-year-old to raise transfer funds to sign Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich were reported to have accepted a bid from Man United, but De Jong reportedly refused to join the club.
The dust finally had to settle and the former Ajax midfielder stayed at Barcelona where he has been getting regular game time.
On Sunday during Barcelona’s clash with Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou, De Jong was among the standout players on the pitch as Xavi’s team won the game 2-1 to go twelve points clear at the top of the Laliga table.
De Jong after the game spoke to Ziggo Sport, and took that chance to appreciate the game time he is getting, and stress his love for the Catalans.
It is a lot better, yes, it gives me great satisfaction. We are now first and I play almost everything. In principle, I am very happy at Barcelona.
De Jong and Barcelona will return to Laliga action on April 1 against Elche after the international break which gets underway on 21st March.
Barca is trying to win the league for the first time since the 2018/19 season.
