The City of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia will host the 2023 Club World Cup.
King Abdullah Sport City Stadium and Price Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium will be used for the 2023 tournament in December. This will be the last edition in that seven-team format before the 32-team version launches in 2025 in USA.
King Abdullah hosts 62,000 spectators while Al Faisal has 27,000 spectator capacity
At-Ittihad, Saudi Arabian champion, Auckland City (Oceania Champion), Manchester City ( UEFA Champions League champion), Al Ahly ( African Champion) and Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan will be the teams that will feature in this year’s tournament. The other slot will go to the South American Champions whose Copa Libertadores final is in November.
Man City and the South American Champion will enter the tournament at semi-final stage due to rules while the rest apart from Ittihad and Auckland City will enter at second round.
The expanded FIFA Club World Cup in 2025 will have all continental champions from 2021 through 2024, expect in Oceania.
Apart from this year’s Club World Cup, Saudi Arabia will host the 2027 Asian Cup, and are also expected to bid for the 2033 FIFA World Cup.
In this current off-season, several top European players have been captured by Saudi Arabian sides which include Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté, Kalidou Koulibaly and Ruben Nevez.
