Chelsea midfielder Joao Felix insists Graham Potter should not be the only one held responsible for the Blue’s woeful campaign this term.
The Portuguese has thus far not enjoyed his time in London as Chelsea are struggling for form both in the domestic league and in the Champions League.
Potter who took over the reigns at Chelsea in September last year has not been able to lead the club to promising results. Majority of Chelsea fans don’t think he is the right man for the job, but Felix says players share as much blame.
Speaking to SkySports, Felix who joined Chelsea on loan from Atletico Madrid in January said:
“The fault is on us and on the coach, but not only for the players or the coach to take all the fault, it’s between us all. We just have to be together and we are. The coach is with us and we are with the coach. The situation will change for sure.”
Chelsea eased pressure on themselves over the weekend when they managed to secure three points that came in form of a 1-0 win over Leeds.
The side had gone six games without seeing a win, and they will view that slim victory as having come at the right time as they seek to overturn a 1-0 loss to Dortmund in their first leg of the Champions League last 16.
Potter’s men welcome Dortmund to the Bridge later today in the return leg with hope of building on that weekend victory.
“We want to make sure it’s tough for Dortmund away from home in the Champions League and we need our supporters for that. The position we’re in, you should always welcome the pressure.
“It means you’re in a fantastic position which is competing for a position in the last eight of the Champions League. It’s an important competition and we want to progress.” The former Brighton manager while speaking to the reporters on Monday said.
The Champions League remains Chelsea’s only realistic chance of saving their season, with the club already out of both domestic cups.
They currently sit 10th in the Premier League, and are at risk of missing out on Europe’s most elite competition as they are 11 points behind fourth placed Tottenham with 13 games left to the end of the season.
