Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance but voiced disappointment over their inability to secure three points.
The German tactician notably lamented the absence of a penalty decision when the ball made contact with Martin Odegaard’s hand in the penalty area in the second half.
The game ended with the scores tied 1-1 after Gabriel Magalhaes’ early towering header for Arsenal was cancelled out by Mohammed Salah a few minutes before the break.
“I am sure someone will tell me how it wasn’t a penalty but I don’t know how,” Klopp told Sky Sports.
“I don’t know where the ref was but when someone sits in his office – I don’t know how they don’t at least want to look at it again.
“Arsenal had the better start and with all the things I had to say in the last week I have to say thank you to Anfield they were exceptional.
“Arsenal had a great start with a corner and then a goal, but we got better and after halftime we should have scored.
“We had a high press and, for 15 or 20 minutes, we shattered them slightly. They are a really good team and we should have used that period.
“They have quality if you open one space, they are ready to go.
“We are in an area we belong [in the table] and we have to go from there.
This point means Arsenal will top the table at Christmas for the second successive season as they are on 40 points, one above of Liverpool in second.
The Kops next game will happen on boxing Day when they travel to Turf Mor to face relegation-based Burnley.
