Paul Pogba’s return to Juventus, a club he achieved so much success with has been far from pleasing for both parties.
The French midfielder had his first stint at the Turin club between 2012 and 2016, winning four Serie A titles and two Italian Cups, but since his return, things have not gone as both parties had hoped.
Following his departure from Manchester United, Pogba rejoined Juventus in July 2022 on a free transfer, but the World Cup winner only made his second debut last month following a long spell out of action with an injury.
It clearly is a frustrating situation for both Pogba and the Old Lady, but the club chief football officer Francesco Calvo insists they’re not trying get rid of the midfielder.
“When it comes to great players, everything is emphasized, for better or for worse,” Calvo said.
“I’ve read big headlines and that Juventus would like to offload him. Absolutely not. He arrived here when he was 19, for him it’s a family but we are a family that demands a lot. We hope to have him back as soon as possible.
“We believe so much in Pogba, otherwise we wouldn’t have signed a four-year contract. We are as sorry as he is, we speak daily with the player, he knows we are not happy with this situation just as he is not happy.”
Pogba’s second debut came against Torino in the Turin derby on 28th February. He also featured for the Bianconeri in their next game, but suffered an injury set back l, picked up during training on March 14.
He has since been sidelined with a tear in the abductor muscle and his return date is expected to be at the start of next month.
