Kai Havertz scored his first Arsenal goal in a comfortable 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday at the Vitality Stadium.
In his 10th appearance for the Gunners since moving from Chelsea for £65m in the summer, Havertz calmly slotted home from the penalty spot to extend Arsenal’s lead to 3-0 in the 53rd minute after Martin Odegaard had been brought down in the box by Ryan Christie.
Bukayo Saka had given Arsenal the lead by heading home from close range in the 17th minute a ball that came off the post from Gabriel Jesus’ attempt.
A penalty from Martin Odegaard in the 44th minute after Eddie Nketiah was fouled in the box ensured Arsenal go into the halftime break with a 2-0 lead.
Ben White scored the fourth and last goal of the evening in stoppage time, heading home Odegaard’s free kick. The goal was confirmed by VAR after a check for possible offside.
Bournemouth were second best in everything and did not threaten the Arsenal defence at all as they continued their woeful home record this season of scoring just once at the Vitality Stadium.
The win helped Arsenal move to within a point of Premier League leaders Manchester City, who recorded their first defeat of the season at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium.
The result also sees Arsenal remain unbeaten in the Premier League so far this season with 17 points from seven games.
Bournemouth meanwhile remain winless and drop into the relegation zone.
