Barcelona were crowned La Liga champions for the first time since 2019 last weekend with four matches to spare after beating Espanyol 4-2 on Sunday.
The trophy is out of sight now, but there is still a lot to play for in the remaining matches with Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League positions still up for grabs.
Matchday 35 kicks off tonight with Cadiz hosting Real Valladolid at Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla. The match is vital to both clubs with the same ambition; to avoid relegation. Cadiz are above Valladolid because of their superior goal difference but both teams are just one point from safety.
A win for either sides tonight will see them climb up the table and the defeated team could drop to the relegation zone and potentially lose their La Liga status next season.
Real Sociedad, Villareal and Real Betis are one match away from confirming their qualification for European football. Sociedad are playing champions Barcelona on Saturday and it is yet to be seen whether Barcelona will rotate their squad and give minutes to players that haven’t featured that much this season.
If they do, Sociedad will want to capitalize on that with their strongest team and get a positive result from this match. Villareal and Real Betis face weaker sides in Girona and Sevilla respectively.
On Sunday, Atletico Madrid will host Osasuna as they try to return to winning ways after losing to bottom-placed Elche last weekend. Osasuna are currently eighth while Atletico are third and still have the chance to finish second if Real Madrid drop points in the remaining matches.
Madrid will want to use the humiliation they faced at the hands of Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday to their advantage against Valencia and finish the season on a high.
Valencia have struggled for form all season and are currently sitting 14th on the table but come into this fixture off the back of a Celta Vigo victory last weekend.
